IMDEA Networks participates in Round Table session for future students at UC3M

29 January 2016

Monday 25th January University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M) opened its doors for future students eager to learn about the specific entrance exams and conditions for various academic degrees. IMDEA Networks was invited to participate in the round table session in order to present the institute’s various research areas and projects to future engineering students at the university.

Joerg Widmer, Research Professor and Research Strategy Manager at IMDEA Networks Institute took part in the Round Table session at the Higher Polytechnic School (Escuela Politécnica Superior, EPS) of UC3M on Monday 25 February. A total of 800 young people joined the event at UC3M of whom approximately 200 had come to participate in the round table session of the EPS. Each of the five engineering areas was presented: Aerospace, Biomedical, Industrial, Information, and Telecommunication Engineering. The idea was to show the differences between each of the study programs, give a characterization of the various suitable profiles and not least point out career opportunities in each area. Last but not least the attendees were invited to ask questions.

After the presentations, Joerg Widmer introduced the young audience of future engineering students to IMDEA Networks and the lines of research carried out at the institute which to a large extent are related to the academic careers at UC3M. This provided the prospective students with a glimpse of potential future career options that are mainly research oriented.

Various PhD Students, many of whom come from UC3M, incorporate at IMDEA Networks every year with a view to carrying out their research in close collaborations with our Research Professors, and Post-Doc Researchers. Last, but not least, the presence of IMDEA Networks at the Round Table session at EPS helps to further strengthen the close collaboration between the Institute and UC3M.
