PhD Student at IMDEA Networks awarded FPU scholarship

Evgenia Christoforou, a PhD Student at IMDEA Networks and University Carlos III of Madrid under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Fernández Anta, has been awarded an FPU scholarship funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (MECD). FPU scholarships are part of the Spanish program for professional training of university lecturers (Programa de Formación del Profesorado Universitario – FPU) and they are designed to promote academic training in doctoral programs and research training for those who wish to focus their professional activity on university teaching and research. These scholarships are awarded on merit of academic achievements and are highly competitive. In this FPU call (2013), out of almost 7000 applicants only 754 students became beneficiaries of the program (11%). In the area of Computer Science and Technology in which Evgenia Christoforou competed there were a total of 31 grants awarded for all Spain. Taking into account that there were 206 proposals presented within this area, she was among the 15% to obtain the grant.
