First 5G Start-up Competition extended

16 November 2016

The open research and innovation laboratory 5TONIC announces an extension of two weeks for participation in the first 5G Start-up Competition. The deadline has been postponed until November 30th.

The 5TONIC lab, headquartered at IMDEA Networks Institute in Madrid, launched last October an initiative that actively promotes the engagement of new businesses in pioneering innovation on Fifth Generation Networks (most commonly known as “5G”):  the first global 5G Start-up Competition.

5G technologies, applications and business ecosystems are developing at a very fast pace. 5G is a major enabler for leading firms from a wide range of industries that are embracing digitalization in order to become more competitive. Therefore there is an increasing need for companies pioneering in 5G innovation who can understand and address their needs. With this contest 5TONIC wants to identify new ventures with innovative potential and propel them to the 5G business arena.

The lab is requesting ideas and projects originating from start-ups that address aspects of technology and/or application relevant to 5G. The selection process will take into account the proposal’s synergy with 5G, its market potential, innovation capacity, scalability, the team competencies involved and the stage of development.

Winners will be entitled to kick-start their project with 5TONIC and will be granted access to 5TONIC facilities, where they will be able to interact with the lab’s research and industry experts.

All interested companies can send their proposals up to November 30th via the 5TONIC website at https://www.5tonic.org/content/start-contest.
