Joan Palacios, new PhD student at IMDEA Networks Institute

05 October 2015

Joan Palacios is a new member of the IMDEA Networks research team, joining us as a PhD student from September 2015. He will be working for the Wireless Networking Group, led by Joerg Widmer, a Research Professor in the Institute.

In accordance with his main research interests, Wireless Networking Algorithms, Self-Learning, and Predictive Algorithms, Joan will primarily work in the area of Millimeter Wave and High Frequency Wireless Networking Algorithms.

Joan obtained his BSc in Mathematics from Universitat de Valencia, where he also studied Physics at the same university. The final BSc project dealt with counting combinations under symmetry conditions, with a special focus on chemistry and informatics optimization analysis. Apart from this project, he also worked on other projects, for instance fire behavior prediction, focus retrieval, and wave simulation on an N-dimensional space.

He will now begin his PhD studies at University Carlos III of Madrid while at the same time carrying out research work at IMDEA Networks, in the Wireless Networking Group.
