Suman Banerjee joins as new professor with double affiliation at IMDEA Networks

IMDEA Networks is honored to announce that Suman Banerjee will become a double-affiliation professor at IMDEA Networks. He had previously collaborated with the institute during his stay as a visiting professor in 2019. Suman Banerjee is a most distinguished and renowned scientist and we very much look forward to a fruitful collaboration. He will start to spend part of his time at IMDEA Networks from the second half of 2021 onwards

Suman Banerjee received his undergraduate degree from IIT Kanpur in computer science and engineering, and the MS and PhD degrees from the University of Maryland. He is a professor in computer science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he is the founding director of the WiNGS laboratory which focuses on research in wireless and mobile networking systems. While at Wisconsin, he received the NSF CAREER award from the US National Science Foundation and the inaugural Rockstar Award from ACM SIGMOBILE for early career achievements and contributions in his field. He has authored more than 100 technical papers in leading journals and conferences in the field, including the ACM/IEEE Transactions on Networking, the ACM/IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, ACM Sigcomm, ACM MobiCom, IEEE Infocom, ACM MobiSys, ACM CoNEXT, ACM IMC, IEEE Dyspan, and more. He also received best paper awards from conferences such as ACM MobiCom, ACM CoNEXT, and IEEE Dyspan. He served as the chair of ACM SIGMOBILE between 2013 and 2017 and is a member of the IEEE.

IMDEA Networks also counts with Professor Marco Ajmone-Marsan, one of the top professors in networking in Europe, as double affiliation professor.
