Project meeting and public event for NOTRE in Madrid

26 July 2016

A summary of the activities that took place during the NOTRE project meeting that took place last June in Madrid, Spain.

The NOTRE project meeting in Madrid took place between the 24th and the 27th June. It consisted of visits, workshops and a public event. The attendees had the opportunity to visit the IMDEA Networks and UC3M-DEI Lab facilities where key members of both institutions presented their current work in the areas of data visualization, augmented reality and networks in general. These presentations opened the discussion between the consortium members and sparked new ideas for potential collaborations.

Training course 1 imparted by Luis F. N. Chiroque (IMDEA Networks) taught the attendees how to retrieve social networks data and the tools and techniques that can be used to predict or detect trends, influencers and outliers.

In a Seminar, Fragkiskos Papadopoulos (SCRC) presented his work in Network Geometry and latest results that have potential applications in missing link detection, predictions and evolution of online social networks.

Finally, the meeting successfully closed with the public DataBeers NOTRE event where speakers from the NOTRE consortium and startup companies in Spain presented their works related with Social Computing. The format of this event (dynamic and accessible to a non-academia audience) allowed for an open exchange of ideas between startups, speakers and attendees.
