Albert Banchs, director of IMDEA Networks, has been distinguished with the Donald L. Hings Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the optimization of networking and wireless communications. The award was presented during the International Conference on Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems (MSWiM 2025), a leading event in the field of networking and mobile systems, held in Barcelona from October 27 to 31. This distinction honors researchers whose scientific careers have made a significant impact on the advancement of the field.
Throughout his career, Dr. Banchs has conducted extensive research in network technologies, combining academic excellence with knowledge transfer to industry. His work has contributed to the development of innovative solutions to optimize wireless communications, enhance network efficiency, and foster the adoption of next-generation technologies.
A Full Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Dr. Banchs has an extensive international background that includes research stays at leading institutions such as ICSI Berkeley, ETH Zurich, EPFL, and the University of Texas at Austin, as well as experience at Telefónica I+D and NEC Europe Ltd. With over 150 scientific publications and several patents licensed to industry, he is recognized as one of the most influential figures in the field of network communications.
