Vincenzo Sciancalepore, a member of IMDEA Networks‘ Alumni Network since his PhD graduation last November 2015, has received the «Award for PhD Theses in the field of Communication Technologies» conferred by GTTI*, the National Telecommunications and Information Theory Group in Italy. His PhD thesis, defended at University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M), was entitled «Enhancements in spectrum management techniques for heterogeneous 5G future networks», and was produced under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Albert Banchs, Deputy Director of IMDEA Networks and Full Professor at the Telematics Engineering Department of UC3M.
The GTTI is a consortium of all Italian academic institutions working in the areas of telecommunications and information technologies. Every year it evaluates and selects the three best PhD theses in communication technologies (Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Networking), which have been defended at an Italian university that year. Sciancalepore’s thesis was selected within the 'Networking' area.
The prize amounts to 1500 euro per PhD Thesis Award and the winner is required to present his PhD work during the annual GTTI event. This year it was held in Genoa (Italy) from June 15th to the 17th.
