The IMDEA Networks Institute offers one fully funded research engineer position in the area of explainable and robust Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN). The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing activities of the Networks Data Science group, by advancing the state of the art and promote open, interpretable and robust AI lifecycles in O-RAN environments; to this end, he/she will design and implement mechanisms to reveal AI decisions logic, harness such insights to optimize specific components of the AI lifecycle like online training and network performance, and spot and address inconsistent AI behaviors. All work will be carried out in the specific context of AI-driven programmable software components within the O-RAN centralized abstraction layer, so as to optimize runtime operations of future generation RAN infrastructures.
