The IMDEA Networks Institute offers one fully funded PhD position in the area of Federated learning and the data economy. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing activities of the Data Transparency Group. The objective of the group is to tackle important problems at the forefront of the interplay between technology, society, public policy, and economics. On all of the above we take a holistic approach that goes from fundamental thinking and rethinking, all the way to developing code running on large systems and devices, including all the business challenges for transforming visions and ideas to real world services.

The selected student will be supervised by Dr Nikolaos Laoutaris, Leader of IMDEA’s Data Transparency Group.

The position requires:

  • Degree / Master in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Excellent understanding of the fundamentals of wireless communications systems.
  • Coding skills using Matlab, C/C++, Python.
  • High level of English (English will be the working language)
