IMDEA Networks’ Wireless Networking Group headed by Prof. Joerg Widmer invites applications for a laboratory technician position for the millimeter-wave networking lab. The group undertakes cutting-edge experimental research with equipment that represents the forefront of research and innovation. The candidate will participate in the research experiments (helping with the preparation of the setup, execution and reporting as well as with maintaining the data), in the laboratory maintenance (inventory, organization), and in the update of projects’ webpages. As a member of the Wireless Networking Group, the candidate will have a unique opportunity to work in a multi-cultural environment and contribute to the advancement of the technology of future wireless networks.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, setting up and undertaking controlled experiments and trials.
  • Recording, analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Providing technical support to the researchers of the team.
  • Writing reports, reviews, and summary.
  • Ordering and maintaining laboratory stock and resources
  • Move, reallocate, and reinstall equipment.

Academic Qualifications / Skills

  • BSc in electrical, telecommunication engineering or an equivalent field. Equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience and / or qualifications operating laboratory electronic equipment (Multimeter, power sources, oscilloscope).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge in any of the following programming languages tools is considered a plus: python, MATLAB, git.

Contract Duration and Type

  • Full-time or Part-time contract. Includes social and health benefits.
