The ongoing development of individual radio and radar sensor systems, in terms of both hardware and software, as well as sensor networks, has made significant progress in recent decades. Nevertheless, challenges remain in physical-layer design, higher layers, and signal processing. This talk will provide insights into our latest activities on distributed sensing technologies, especially integrated sensing and communications solutions. I will cover physical-layer design, potential waveform candidates, and traditional and ML-based signal-processing steps, and showcase their potential in automotive, industrial, and energy applications.
Maximilian Lübke received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Erlangen, Germany, in 2018, and the Dr.-Ing. degree from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in 2023. He currently heads the Radio Propagation, Technologies, and Networks Group, Institute for Smart Electronics and Systems. His research interests include channel propagation, multisensor systems, and integrating sensing and communications systems. Dr. Lübke has received several awards, most recently the Best Student Paper Award at the 2026 IEEE International Mediterranean Conference on Communications and Networking and the VDE Bayern Dissertation Award in 2024.
