We work on the design and prototypal deployment of efficient opportunistic wired/wireless architectures using D2D communications and novel MAC enhancements for 802.11, 3GPP-based and heterogeneous networks.
Our research focuses on 5G and SDR/SDN solutions aiming at:

  • Design and optimization of energy-efficient and bandwidth-efficient D2D communications
  • Design of MAC, resource allocation and network control mechanisms
  • Design and performance evaluation of context-aware networking mechanisms
  • Orchestration of network services under very fast network control

We aim at theoretical as well as experimental research activities, which includes the implementation of MAC, D2D, and context-aware schemes, and the development of measurement platforms for the assessment of wireless connectivity and network services.
