PhD student position in Cybersecurity

IMDEA Networks Institute invites applications for a fully-funded Ph.D position in the area of cybersecurity. The selected candidate will become a member of the Internet Analytics Group headed by Dr. Narseo Vallina-Rodriguez, and will conduct exciting empirical research to detect and characterize unknown security and privacy threats associated with smart home technologies, cross-device tracking methods, or vulnerabilities in the software supply chain (SBOMs).

The positions offers:

  • A fully-funded Ph.D. position with a competitive salary package.

  • The expectation to publish impactful work at top-tier conferences in the field of cybersecurity and privacy (e.g., USENIX Security Symposium, IEEE Symposium on S&P, ACM CCS, NDSS, or PETS)
  • Working in real-world problems with enormous societal, scientific, regulatory and industrial impact (see prior work of the team)

Skills Required:

  • C. in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering or related areas.
  • Critical thinking
  • English proficiency is mandatory
  • Good organisation and communication skills.
  • Experience in any of the following technologies will be positively considered: reverse engineering, protocol analysis, and dynamic analysis (e.g., Frida)
