PhD position in Mobile Network Communications

The NETCOM Lab invites applications for a PhD Student position in Mobile Network Communications.

We have a PhD Position open, a part-time at 50% (20 hours per week).

The student will work on:

  • Advanced quantum Internet technologies, participating in regional, national and EU research projects and also industry collaborations, involving the following topics and tasks:
    • Integration of quantum communications and classical Internet technologies in new mobile network infrastructures, 5G and 6G.
    • Development of mechanisms for efficient and secure transmission of information in 5G/6G networks, leveraging Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technologies.
    • Study and deployment of cloud-native solutions to support control operations and classical communications in quantum Internet environments.
    • Development of an experimentation testbed with classical Internet technologies (TCP/IP networks, Kubernetes, OpenStack, L2S-M, etc.) and quantum technologies (for instance, QKD), based on open source tools and standard protocols.

 Requirements:

  • Degree telecommunication engineering, telematics engineering, sound and image engineering (or equivalent disciplines)
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory
  • Excellent academic transcripts
  • Background in networking, virtualizacion technologies and testbed deployment
  • High motivation to conduct a PhD in the area of quantum Internet
  • The selected student will be supervised by Dr. Albert BANCHS
