Financial Manager & Deputy General Manager

Role

Reporting to the General Manager, he/she will be responsible for contributing to the overall organization of the research support team and also for the economic and financial management of the Institute. The main duties and responsibilities include:

  • To act as Research Support Team co-leader, taking over General Manager duties in his absence
  • Contributing to design the overall policies of the institute as well as to the organization of the research support team
  • Contribution to the automation and digitalization of the admin procedures. Management of complex procedures and systems
  • Support and co-supervision the various departments including enginnering, projects, human resources and facilities
  • To lead all the finance, accounting, tax, and control activities to ensure that IMDEA Networks’ economic and financial activities are monitored and controlled in order to make effective use of financial resources, meet organization’s aims and goals and fulfill statutory and tax obligations
  • To elaborate the financial statements, annual budget and the operational plan of the Institute
  • To lead the relationship with external auditors
  • To prepare standard and special reports for the Regional Government and for the Directive Team and General Manager of the Institute
  • As a member of IMDEA’s Management Team, to play an active role in determining IMDEA’s strategy and agreeing objectives and actions that will ensure short/long term profitability and sustainable growth
  • Manage and oversee all matters related to public tender processes
  • Develop and implement strategy to automate the procedures and software tools of the administration team

Languages Required

  • Bilingual English and Spanish

Education Qualifications

  • Preferred qualification is a MSc in Economics, Business Administration or Finance (or related discipline). Candidates with a degree in Engineering and an MBA will also be considered.

Requirements

  • Candidates should hold a Master Degree in Economics, Business Administration or Finance (or related discipline). A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role is required.
  • Experience with accounting of non-profit Institutions will be highly valued
  • Knowledge of public administration and of Spanish legal regulations will also be valued (taxes, contracts, human resources, etc.)

  • Track record of working effectively in a complex environment
  • Proven experience with public tender processes
  • International technology sector experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Sound working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning Software (e.g. SAP, Oracle financials, etc.) and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
