The candidate will work in the NETCOM-lab research Group, led by Albert Banchs.

The NETCOM-lab Group is looking for a PhD student to focus on advancing quantum communication technologies within our team. Key responsibilities include integrating quantum communications into evolving mobile network infrastructures such as 5G and 6G, developing mechanisms for efficient and secure information transmission in these networks, and researching cloud-native approaches for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). Additionally, the role entails contributing to the development of a quantum Internet testbed in 5TONIC lab and exploring proof-of-concepts and use cases for quantum Internet applications.

Skills Required

The position requires knowledge and experience in networking technologies. In particular, the following competences will be valued:

  • Background in networking
  • Background in quantum communications, quantum security (QKD) and quantum technologies
  • High motivation to conduct a PhD in the area of quantum Internet

Academic Qualifications

  • Degree in Physics, Maths, telecommunication engineering, telematics engineering, or equivalent disciplines
  • Excellent academic transcripts
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory
