Biography

Syed Waqas Haider Shah (Member, IEEE) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellow at IMDEA Networks in Madrid, Spain. He received his MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Science and Technology Pakistan, in 2016, and Information Technology University Pakistan, in 2021, respectively. From 2019 to 2021, he was a Commonwealth split-site PhD student at the Computer Laboratory, Department of Computer Science and Technology, University of Cambridge, UK, , where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Jon Crowcroft. He has published his work in prestigious venues such as IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE ICC, IEEE Wireless Communication Letters, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and IEEE Transactions on Green Communication and Networking. He is an active member of European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) Industry Specification Groups focused on Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS). He was awarded a Commonwealth and Cambridge Trust PhD Scholarship, MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship, and Spanish Juan de la Cierva (JDC) Research Grant for 2 years. His primary research interests include ISAC, mmWave networks, 6G, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, analytical modeling of mobile networks, and quality-of-service provisioning. He also serves as a program co-chair and member of technical program committees of several IEEE and ACM conferences, and a reviewer of many international journals.
