The IMDEA Networks Institute offers one fully funded PhD position in the area of explainable and robust Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN).The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing activities of the Resilient AI Networking Lab [1] and the Networks Data Science group [2], by advancing the state of the art and promote open, interpretable and robust AI lifecycles in O-RAN environments; to this end, he/she will design and implement mechanisms to reveal AI decisions logic, harness such insights to optimize specific c components of the AI lifecycle like online training and network performance, and spot and address inconsistent AI behaviors.
All work will be carried out in the specific context of AI-driven programmable software components within the O-RAN centralized abstraction layers, so as to optimize runtime operations of future generation RAN infrastructures.
