IMDEA Networks’ Pervasive Wireless System Group headed by Prof. Domenico Giustiniano invites applications for PhD positions in the framework of HORIZON-MSCA-2023-DN-01-01 ANT Project
The project focuses on developing lightweight, energy-efficient embedded AI models and distributed inference mechanisms for low-battery smart farming sensors within a hierarchical network. It aims to design and test a smart farming system using battery-free IoT sensors developed by IMDEA. Expected outcomes include tailored AI models, distributed inferencing algorithms, and a proof-of-concept system. The PhD, under UC3M, includes secondments at CSEM for distributed algorithms and NXP for embedded AI model development, with joint papers as key deliverables.
Candidate profile: telecommunication engineering, electrical engineering, computer science (in order of preference)
Desirable skills/interests: signal processing, embedded systems, machine learning (the applicant should be proficient in at least one or two of the skills)
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101169439.
