José Herrera, new Research Engineer

Dr. José Herrera has joined the research engineers and support team at IMDEA Networks. He will be working within the Global Computing Group led by Dr. Antonio Fernández Anta.


José Herrera’s main research interests currently are Privacy, Access Control, Cloud computing and Edge/Fog Computing.

He was first employed as an Assistant Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid for five years. In this position he taught a course in the Department of Computer Architecture while he concluded his PhD studies.

Herrera then went on to work for the banking private sector, joining Banco Santander as a C++ Developer. For four years he worked in a Grid Computing project aimed to migrate the Montecarlo Algorithm to a Grid environment. After that he was employed by the ING Direct bank as the Scrum Master of its development team. He occupied this position for an additional four years.

Before joining IMDEA Networks, he was appointed Honourable Collaborator by the Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid) where, for one year, he contributed his expertise to the advancement of Cloud Computing and CUDA projects.
