Sofía Silva Berenguer, new PhD Student

Sofía Silva Berenguer has become a member of the IMDEA Networks research team. She will be working as a PhD Student from February 2015. During her professional career Sofía has worked with different technologies and has performed research related to topics such as the Internet, Routing, Security, the Domain Name System (DNS), the Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI), Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), Anycast, and Internet Exchange Points.

Sofía holds a degree in Telematics Engineering from the University of Montevideo (Uruguay). Prior to her incorporation to IMDEA Networks and up to December 2014, Sofia worked as a Senior Security and Stability Specialist at the Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean (LACNIC). She originally joined LACNIC’s Registration Services Department as a Hostmaster/Policy Officer, and later went on to work as an Infrastructure, Systems and Security Engineer within the organization’s Technical Department. Before joining LACNIC, Sofía worked for IBM’s Networking Department in Uruguay and was Head of Computer Security for one of the company’s outsourcing projects.
