Francesco Pigato, Estudiante de doctorado en IMDEA Networks Institute, Madrid, España

In-house Presentation

Fifth-generation cellular networks are introducing new capabilities to significantly enhance positioning accuracy through wideband reference signals specifically designed for time-based localization. These resources, together with emerging Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and existing systems like GNSS and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) technologies, promise enhanced navigation performances, robustness, and reliability while maintaining seamless communication capabilities. The presentation will showcase our current experimental testbed and ongoing efforts to pursue 5G positioning through different pilot reference signals. We will present examples of practical usage, including emergency caller localization, which remains a critical challenge for public safety.
