This talk explores how quantum computing can perform Forward Error Correction (FEC), inherent in mobile networks. We introduce Qu4Fec, a quantum-based LDPC decoder that achieves significantly lower block error rates in simulation than the state-of-the-art. We also evaluate its performance on real quantum hardware, uncovering key limitations and proposing hardware directions for future quantum processors. The talk offers both a reality check and a forward-looking vision for quantum-enabled 6G systems.
Nikolaos Apostolakis is a PhD candidate in University Carlos III of Madrid and IMDEA Networks Institute, focusing on resource efficiency optimization in radio access networks. Among others, his interests include AI/ML and performance evaluation of wireless systems.
