PhD positions in Mobile Network Communications (2 positions)

The NETCOM Lab invites applications for two PhD Student positions in Mobile Network Communications.

We have two PhD Positions open, one full-time (40 hours per week), the other part-time at 50% (20 hours per week).

The student will work on advanced quantum communication technologies, participating in regional, national and EU research projects and also industry collaborations, involving the following topics and tasks:

  • Integration of quantum communications in new mobile network infrastructures, 5G and 6G.
  • Development of mechanisms for efficient and secure transmission of information in 5G/6G networks, using quantum communications technologies.
  • Research and development of cloud-native approaches for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)
  • Development of a quantum Internet tested in 5TONIC.
  • Development of quantum Internet proof-of-concepts and use cases.

 Requirements:

  • Degree in Physics, telecommunication engineering, telematics engineering, or equivalent disciplines
  • Master degree studies in related disciplines will receive positive consideration
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory
  • Excellent academic transcripts
  • Background in networking and quantum communications (QKD)
  • High motivation to conduct a PhD in the area of quantum Internet

The selected student will be supervised by Dr. Albert BANCHS
