Opening of the Oficina de Proyectos Europeos Madri+d – IMDEA (Madri+d – IMDEA European Projects Bureau)

22 December 2014

The Oficina de Proyectos Europeos (OPE) Madri+d – IMDEA is launched as a networked structure to support the participation of its member corporations in European programs. It is made up of IMDEA Water, IMDEA Food, IMDEA Energy, IMDEA Materials, IMDEA Nanoscience, IMDEA Networks, IMDEA Software and the Foundation for Knowledge ‘Madri+d’ in a coordination role.

The IMDEA Centers, with headquarters in Madrid, aim to create a solid base for generating knowledge, reaching a critical mass in each of the fields of science the seven Centers are focused on. With this operational principle as a starting point and with the additional purpose of securing the presence of IMDEA in the European framework of research and innovation, the OPE Madri+d IMDEA expects to reach the objectives established in the program “Horizonte 2020”.

The reasons for setting up this initiative include raising the quality of research and enhancing the international projection of the activities of the IMDEA Centers, through the participation of their researchers in a growing number of transnational projects conducted on a cooperative basis. The OPE will focus primarily on providing support to researchers through education and training. Promoting interdisciplinary cooperation between IMDEA Centers and companies, the number of coordinated projects and projects led by IMDEA researchers, and the success rate of proposals for projects presented to the EU, are some of the aims this initiative is already working on.
