IMDEA Networks’ Wireless Networking Group (http://wireless.networks.imdea.org/) headed by Prof. Joerg Widmer (http://people.networks.imdea.org/~joerg_widmer/) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the wide area of next-generation wireless networks (beyond 5G and 6G). Depending on the candidate’s skills, the post-doctoral researcher will work on mobile and millimeter-wave networking aspects (large scale deployments, resource allocation, location systems, etc.), communications (beamforming, interference management, joint communication and sensing, etc.), mobile network architecture (5G core and RAN, protocols at various layers of the stack, etc.), and AI for wireless networks. As a member of the WNG team, the researcher will be involved in cutting-edge research and experimental work as well as close interaction with Ph.D. students.

Skills Required

  • Strong background in wireless networking and communications
  • Very good publication record in top academic conferences and journals with proven research independence (i.e., evidence of publications with no relation with Ph.D. or postdoc supervisors)
  • Strong interest in hands-on activities, including system prototyping, testbed development, and measurements
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Mentoring and coaching graduate students and coordinating lab activities
  • Very good organization and communication skills

Academic Qualifications

  • D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field

Experience

  • Experience in building systems and experimental work in the area of wireless networking
  • Experience with project management, funding acquisition of future projects
  • Proven experience with event organization (e.g., conferences or workshops)
