Pero <strong>el ideal de la comunicaci&oacute;n sin fisuras<\/strong> plantea retos fundamentales a las redes tradicionales, que las nuevas redes de comunicaci&oacute;n 5G actualmente en desarrollo han de resolver. Uno de estos retos es soportar el importante crecimiento de la demanda de tr&aacute;fico. Los <strong>servicios de pr&oacute;xima generaci&oacute;n<\/strong>, como el<strong> servicio m&oacute;vil en la nube<\/strong>, los <strong>juegos<\/strong>, las <strong>aplicaciones de redes sociales<\/strong> y las <strong>aplicaciones de inmersi&oacute;n en 3D<\/strong>, requieren una capacidad masiva y mayores tasas de transmisi&oacute;n de datos de los que las actuales redes 4G son capaces de sustentar.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><\/strong>En el marco del <strong>proyecto europeo de investigaci&oacute;n <\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/5g-ppp.eu\/mmmagic\/\"><strong>mmMAGIC<\/strong><\/a> <strong>5GPPP<\/strong>, investigadores de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networks.imdea.org\/\">IMDEA Networks<\/a>, en colaboraci&oacute;n con 18 organizaciones asociadas, han desarrollado y dise&ntilde;ado una nueva tecnolog&iacute;a de acceso radio m&oacute;vil para su despliegue en frecuencias de ondas milim&eacute;tricas (<strong>mm-wave<\/strong>), que supone una soluci&oacute;n muy prometedora para la entrega eficiente de datos de alta capacidad.<\/p>\n<p>Los <strong>sistemas en base a ondas milim&eacute;tricas<\/strong> explotan frecuencias superiores a los 10 GHz. Las comunicaciones a frecuencias tan altas plantean desaf&iacute;os &uacute;nicos. Por un lado, los sistemas mm-wave alcanzan velocidades de datos que son &oacute;rdenes de magnitud superiores a los sistemas actuales que operan a frecuencias m&aacute;s bajas. Por otra parte, los enlaces establecidos por ondas milim&eacute;tricas experimentan una gran variabilidad en la calidad del canal debido a la alta p&eacute;rdida por propagaci&oacute;n y a la absorci&oacute;n atmosf&eacute;rica desfavorable. Dicho esto, la pregunta fundamental que el proyecto <strong>mmMAGIC<\/strong> ha pretendido responder es: &iquest;c&oacute;mo podemos superar con eficacia los desaf&iacute;os y beneficiarnos de las ganancias potenciales derivadas del uso de frecuencias de ondas milim&eacute;tricas?<\/p>\n<p>La soluci&oacute;n mmMAGIC es <strong>un nuevo concepto de sistema de radio para comunicaciones de banda ancha m&oacute;vil orientado a operar en bandas anchas contiguas en frecuencias de ondas milim&eacute;tricas<\/strong>. Esta nueva radio es una soluci&oacute;n &ldquo;lista para usar&rdquo; que, dentro del horizonte delimitado por el a&ntilde;o 2020, satisface demandas anticipadas del usuario final y del tr&aacute;fico de la sociedad en red, adem&aacute;s de abordar los desaf&iacute;os espec&iacute;ficos de las bandas de ondas milim&eacute;tricas. En particular, el nuevo concepto de radio aprovecha nuevos modelos de canal propuestos en el marco del proyecto y proporciona un nuevo dise&ntilde;o de antena c<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/aalto-measurements-airport_mm-magic.png\" style=\"float:right; height:191px; margin:10px; width:286px\" \/>on capacidades h&iacute;bridas de formaci&oacute;n de haz. El dise&ntilde;o de esta antena aborda importantes limitaciones pr&aacute;cticas para el despliegue real, como el tama&ntilde;o de la antena, el costo y la complejidad. La validez del dise&ntilde;o de este sistema ha sido corroborada por medio de experimentos en tiempo real del tipo &ldquo;hardware-in-the-loop&rdquo;, los cuales han mostrado su efectividad bajo condiciones reales en cuanto al canal y al hardware utilizados.<\/p>\n<p>Dentro del proyecto mmMAGIC se han identificado y evaluado conceptos &ldquo;facilitadores&rdquo; que compondr&aacute;n la nueva arquitectura 5G de ondas milim&eacute;tricas. Adem&aacute;s de dichos conceptos, se han introducido funcionalidades de transporte y de red de acceso radio para la integraci&oacute;n en la red de tecnolog&iacute;a de acceso radio en base a ondas milim&eacute;tricas. Dentro de la primera categor&iacute;a, se ha propuesto un enfoque predictivo de direcci&oacute;n de haz para mejorar el rendimiento de los enlaces de onda milim&eacute;trica y aliviar parte de la carga de tiempo generada por los procedimientos de entrenamiento de haz. El enfoque aprovecha la informaci&oacute;n hist&oacute;rica sobre los patrones de movimiento de los usuarios y tambi&eacute;n puede emplearse para sistemas precisos de localizaci&oacute;n de interiores.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/university_of_bristol_equipment_2.png\" style=\"height:312px; width:364px\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/university_of_bristol_equipment_1.png\" style=\"float:right; height:463px; width:333px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>mmMAGIC ha sido un <strong>proyecto impulsado por la industria<\/strong>, el cual ha reunido a los principales proveedores de infraestructuras (<strong>Samsung<\/strong>, <strong>Ericsson<\/strong>, <strong>Alcatel-Lucent<\/strong>, <strong>Huawei<\/strong>, <strong>Intel<\/strong>, <strong>Nokia<\/strong>), a importantes operadores europeos (<strong>Orange<\/strong>, <strong>Telef&oacute;nica<\/strong>), a institutos de investigaci&oacute;n y universidades l&iacute;deres (<strong>Fraunhofer HHI<\/strong>, <strong>CEA LETI<\/strong>, <strong>IMDEA Networks<\/strong>, Universidades de <strong>Aalto<\/strong>, <strong>Bristol<\/strong>, <strong>Chalmers<\/strong> y <strong>Dresden<\/strong>), a vendedores de equipos de medici&oacute;n (<strong>Keysight Technologies<\/strong>, <strong>Rohde &amp; Schwarz<\/strong>) y a una PYME (<strong>Qamcom<\/strong>).
