De hecho, las cifras de consumo anual de energ\u00eda que han comunicado las empresas de telecomunicaciones son sorprendentes: Telecom Italia consume\u00a02,1 TWh al a\u00f1o; France Telecom &#8211; Orange, 3,7 TWh; Telef\u00f3nica, 4,5 TWh; Verizon, 9,9 TWh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">El estudio, \u201c<a title=\"Link to PDF\" href=\"http:\/\/www.networks.imdea.org\/Portals\/8\/Downloads\/Publications\/Insomnia_in_the_Access_-_2011_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Insomnia in the Access or How to Curb Access Network Related Energy Consumption<\/a>\u201d (Insomnio en el acceso, o c\u00f3mo frenar el consumo de energ\u00eda relacionado con las redes de acceso), se present\u00f3 en la conferencia <a title=\"Link to ACM SIGCOMM 2011, open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/conferences.sigcomm.org\/sigcomm\/2011\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACM SIGCOMM 2011<\/a> que se celebr\u00f3 en Toronto (Canad\u00e1) entre el 15 y el 19 de agosto. El Dr. Stanojevi\u0107 es Investigador titular en <a title=\"Link to IMDEA Networks website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.networks.imdea.org\/\">IMDEA Networks<\/a> desde octubre del 2010.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Los autores de este estudio han buscado formas para reducir el consumo de energ\u00eda de las redes de acceso y han determinado que los m\u00e9todos simples, como el de entrar en reposo en momentos de inactividad (Sleep-on-Idle), no son apropiados en el contexto de las redes de acceso debido a que constantemente hay un ligero tr\u00e1fico entre los usuarios finales e internet. Por tanto, este estudio propone un nuevo m\u00e9todo, llamado Broadband hitch-hiking (BH2), en el que los usuarios finales aprovechan las redes inal\u00e1mbricas disponibles en el barrio para apagar sus puertas de enlace residenciales cuando el tr\u00e1fico es ligero. Para los proveedores de servicios de internet, el estudio propone una t\u00e9cnica sutil que agrupa las l\u00edneas activas en conjuntos de tarjetas de l\u00ednea y permite a las tarjetas de l\u00ednea no utilizadas entrar en modo de reposo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">La eficiencia energ\u00e9tica es una de las principales \u00e1reas de investigaci\u00f3n de IMDEA Networks. El Instituto genera activamente conocimientos en esta cuesti\u00f3n de gran inter\u00e9s socioecon\u00f3mico. La \u201csociedad de internet\u201d plantea un reto medioambiental, ya que el constante aumento del tr\u00e1fico exige una optimizaci\u00f3n del rendimiento energ\u00e9tico en el sector inform\u00e1tico y de comunicaciones. Este estudio ofrece una soluci\u00f3n innovadora y viable para el problema de la conservaci\u00f3n, desarrollando tecnolog\u00edas inform\u00e1ticas y de redes que intentan reducir el consumo de energ\u00eda. \u00bfPodremos encontrar un equilibrio entre el ecosistema natural y el tecnol\u00f3gico?
