Formado por un consorcio de nueve organizaciones internacionales y coordinado por CENER, la iniciativa tiene como finalidad <strong>impulsar la transici\u00f3n digital de las plantas termosolares de torre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Estas centrales utilizan miles de espejos (heliostatos) que siguen la posici\u00f3n del sol y concentran su luz en un receptor situado en lo alto de la torre. All\u00ed se genera calor a muy alta temperatura, que posteriormente se convierte en electricidad. A pesar de estar convirti\u00e9ndose en la tecnolog\u00eda dominante a nivel mundial, su rendimiento sigue dependiendo de operaciones de campo muy complejas, con miles de heliostatos, receptores y sistemas de almacenamiento que deben funcionar en sincron\u00eda perfecta. Por eso, <strong>digitalizarlas es clave para maximizar su eficiencia, recortar gastos y acelerar su despliegue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCon el ritmo de crecimiento de nuevas plantas de torre en todo el mundo, Europa necesita cerrar ahora esta brecha de digitalizaci\u00f3n para mantener su liderazgo y reducir los costes por debajo de los objetivos establecidos en el Plan Estrat\u00e9gico de Tecnolog\u00edas Energ\u00e9ticas (SET Plan) de la UE\u201d, se\u00f1ala Joerg Widmer, investigador principal del proyecto y director de investigaci\u00f3n en IMDEA Networks.<\/p>\n<p>Y a\u00f1ade: \u00abSUN-DT impulsa la tecnolog\u00eda termosolar de concentraci\u00f3n (CSP, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) de torre hacia una era completamente digital. <strong>Al combinar calibraci\u00f3n basada en inteligencia artificial (IA), mantenimiento predictivo y optimizaci\u00f3n en tiempo real, permitimos que las plantas operen de forma m\u00e1s eficiente y fiable que nunca<\/strong>. Este proyecto refuerza el liderazgo tecnol\u00f3gico de Europa en energ\u00edas renovables\u00bb.<\/p>\n<h2>El papel de IMDEA Networks<\/h2>\n<p>IMDEA Networks lidera el <strong>desarrollo de la capa de comunicaciones inal\u00e1mbricas 5G<\/strong> que permitir\u00e1 la caracterizaci\u00f3n y calibraci\u00f3n de los heliostatos. Su aportaci\u00f3n es clave para que esta herramienta pueda desplegarse a gran escala: proporciona enlaces fiables y de alta capacidad en todo el campo solar, asegura una recogida de datos robusta y habilita ciclos de retroalimentaci\u00f3n en tiempo real.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAportamos una profunda experiencia en <strong>sensado inal\u00e1mbrico y arquitectura de redes<\/strong>, adem\u00e1s de infraestructura de nivel banco de pruebas como el laboratorio NEXTONIC, que nos permite prototipar y validar componentes de comunicaci\u00f3n en condiciones realistas\u201d, explica Widmer.<\/p>\n<h2>Herramientas digitales<\/h2>\n<p>El proyecto desarrollar\u00e1 cuatro herramientas digitales interoperables \u2014HELIOSTATACC, SUN-DTWIN, D-OPT y PREDOM\u2014 que permitir\u00e1n mejorar de forma medible el rendimiento de las centrales termosolares. <strong>Estas tecnolog\u00edas automatizan la calibraci\u00f3n del campo solar, crean un gemelo digital para la toma de decisiones en tiempo real, optimizan el despacho energ\u00e9tico<\/strong> (es decir, la entrega de energ\u00eda a la red en cada momento) y permiten aplicar mantenimiento predictivo.<\/p>\n<p>El objetivo es demostrar:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mayor eficiencia del campo solar y reducci\u00f3n de las p\u00e9rdidas \u00f3pticas.<\/li>\n<li>Menor coste y tiempo de inactividad gracias al mantenimiento predictivo.<\/li>\n<li>Optimizaci\u00f3n del despacho energ\u00e9tico, facilitando la participaci\u00f3n de la CSP en servicios auxiliares a la red.<\/li>\n<li>Costes de generaci\u00f3n renovable m\u00e1s competitivos, alineados con los objetivos del SET Plan europeo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Todas estas herramientas se integrar\u00e1n en una plataforma unificada SUN-DT, que <strong>se probar\u00e1 y validar\u00e1 en dos instalaciones experimentales y dos plantas comerciales de energ\u00eda solar concentrada (CSP): la de Khi Solar One en Sud\u00e1frica y la de Cerro Dominador en Chile<\/strong>. Estas plantas son operadas por dos socios del consorcio y l\u00edderes mundiales en energ\u00eda solar, COX y ACCIONA respectivamente, y representan diferentes configuraciones de torres CSP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPor ejemplo, un sistema de calibraci\u00f3n y caracterizaci\u00f3n de heliostatos detectar\u00e1 autom\u00e1ticamente en tiempo real cualquier desalineaci\u00f3n y recomendar\u00e1 acciones correctivas. En lugar de programar rondas completas de mantenimiento, los operadores ajustar\u00e1n \u00fanicamente los espejos que realmente requieran intervenci\u00f3n.
