Se trata de una causa emergente de desigualdad social, ante la cual la investigaci\u00f3n se esfuerza por proporcionar una mejor comprensi\u00f3n y ofrecer orientaciones para las soluciones.<\/p>\n<p>La publicaci\u00f3n \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/dspace.networks.imdea.org\/handle\/20.500.12761\/1575\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Second-level Digital Divide: A Longitudinal Study of Mobile Traffic Consumption Imbalance in France<\/a>\u00ab, de <a href=\"https:\/\/networks.imdea.org\/es\/equipo\/equipo-imdea-networks\/personas\/sachit-mishra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sachit Mishra<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/networks.imdea.org\/es\/equipo\/equipo-imdea-networks\/personas\/marco-fiore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marco Fiore<\/a> y Zbigniew Smoreda (Orange Labs Paris), presentada en abril de 2022 en la prestigiosa &#8216;ACM Web Conference&#8217;, muestra los resultados del estudio de la <strong>interacci\u00f3n entre el consumo de servicios digitales a trav\u00e9s de dispositivos m\u00f3viles y los niveles de urbanizaci\u00f3n<\/strong> en toda Francia. Los datos demuestran, seg\u00fan destaca el estudio, que existe \u00abun comportamiento emergente por el que las personas que viven en zonas urbanas cada vez m\u00e1s grandes y pobladas tienden a generar un mayor consumo individual de tr\u00e1fico m\u00f3vil que las que viven en ciudades m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as\u00bb. Aunque este patr\u00f3n no es inesperado, la investigaci\u00f3n ha permitido cuantificar por primera vez el fen\u00f3meno de forma precisa: como destaca Marco Fiore, Research Associate Professor de IMDEA Networks, \u00abhemos demostrado, por ejemplo, que <strong>un\/a habitante de una ciudad de un mill\u00f3n de habitantes genera, de media, aproximadamente el doble de tr\u00e1fico de datos m\u00f3viles que una persona de un pueblo de 10.000 habitantes\u00bb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Una conclusi\u00f3n fundamental del estudio es que el <strong>desequilibrio en el uso del tr\u00e1fico de datos m\u00f3viles per c\u00e1pita entre ciudades de diferentes tama\u00f1os<\/strong> ha crecido de forma constante y sustancial durante el periodo 2014-2019 en un pa\u00eds desarrollado como Francia. \u00abCabr\u00eda esperar que la extensi\u00f3n de la conectividad de banda ancha m\u00f3vil 4G a las regiones menos urbanizadas hubiera contribuido a cerrar la brecha, pero nuestros datos muestran lo contrario\u00bb. El hecho de que la brecha de uso digital aumente a lo largo del tiempo a pesar de que las condiciones de accesibilidad de las personas usuarias sean similares es un fen\u00f3meno que exige nuevas investigaciones.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados son fruto de a\u00f1os de recopilaci\u00f3n de datos y del an\u00e1lisis sobre una cantidad masiva de tr\u00e1fico m\u00f3vil, <strong>incluyendo informaci\u00f3n por servicio sobre el consumo de aplicaciones como Twitter, Instagram o Tik Tok<\/strong> que mostr\u00f3 c\u00f3mo tambi\u00e9n las apps individuales se ven afectadas por la misma disparidad de uso. \u00abExploramos m\u00faltiples factores de confusi\u00f3n potenciales, como los ingresos, la educaci\u00f3n o la edad de las personas que residen en ciudades m\u00e1s grandes y m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as de Francia, pero ninguno es suficiente para explicar la diferencia que observamos\u00bb, se\u00f1ala el Dr. Fiore.<\/p>\n<p>El Dr. Fiore tambi\u00e9n destaca el gran esfuerzo que supuso esta investigaci\u00f3n: \u00abEl gran reto al que nos enfrentamos y que tuvimos que resolver fue la escala del estudio. <strong>Utilizamos terabytes de datos sobre miles de ciudades<\/strong> y decenas de miles de emplazamientos radioel\u00e9ctricos, y tuvimos que fusionar estos datos al tiempo que trat\u00e1bamos los errores de medici\u00f3n, las incoherencias y los valores at\u00edpicos.
