IMDEA Networks Institute is looking to hire a European Projects Support Manager to lead the Institute’s efforts in attracting competitive research funding, working alongside with the Institute’s research and admin teams.

 Main Responsibilities

  • Identify European funding calls that are relevant to the Institute, including, but not limited to, Horizon Europe (e.g., RIA, IA, ERC, Marie Curie), Digital Europe Programme, or similar funding frameworks.
  • Disseminate in advance the corresponding call calendar and coordinate with researchers to map researcher interests to forthcoming calls.
  • Advise and work hand in hand with researchers on the preparation of proposals:
    • Ideation phase: make sure that initial/high level ideas match the corresponding call objectives and requirements.
    • Consortium building: Help in joining existing consortia or set up new ones lead by the Institute. Make sure that consortia are balanced in terms of partner profiles and that high quality partners are onboard.
    • Quality control: Conduct internal audits/reviews of proposal drafts to check that common mistakes are avoided and that proposals are coherent in terms of Objectives, Ambition, Milestones, Deliverables, Budget, Demonstration, Exploitation and Dissemination activities.
    • Build a knowledge-base: Use feedback and experiences from successful and unsuccessful proposals to build an internal knowledge-base to be followed for submitting more competitive proposals.
  • Scout for opportunities to join strong consortia led by other organisations (including other IMDEA Institutes, national and international partners).
  • Participating in main European fora, platforms, initiatives, and meetings in the area in order to:
    • Represent the Institute in decision and policy making regarding public research funding.
    • Absorb best practices to be used for maximising the institute’s success ratio in competitive funding.
    • Network and give visibility to the IMDEA brand, fostering relationships and synergies with important stakeholders in the area, including National Contact Points.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years experience in the preparation and writing of EU proposals as main proposal writer or important contributor to a proposal writing team.
  • Good knowledge of the EU proposal preparation process.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Very good communication and organisation skills.
  • Proactivity and commitment.
  • Attention to detail.

Desirable

  • PhD or equivalent research experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or any other related field.
  • Previous experience in EU project management.
  • Knowledge of European Innovation Policy and funding programmes.
