The cloud is not just merely moving some machines from one location to a far remote location. It should also mean change in the way we work with computing resources to perform our research. Just lifting & shifting our computing workload to the cloud will result in reduced benefits and high cost. In this talk we will examine different approaches to move a typical computing workload to the cloud, from the (inefficient) lift&shift to the recommended workflows to get the maximum performance (and lowest cost) of the huge amount of resources that cloud providers put in our hands.
