In-house Presentation

In today’s increasingly distributed computational landscape, cloud gaming has emerged as a transformative entertainment model. Cloud gaming refers to any gaming experience in which certain game engine components are hosted on remote servers, thereby requiring a network connection for proper operation. Despite its promising potential, this service is beset by a range of open challenges and practical difficulties that must be addressed for its widespread adoption. Beyond-5G (B5G) networks, and their native integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and edge computing services, has emerged as a promising solution to some of the central challenges: Achieving ultra-low latency and ubiquitous connectivity to fulfill the idea of enabling gaming anywhere. In this work, we provide a comprehensive analysis of existing platforms, datasets, approaches, and challenges, as well as future research directions in this rapidly evolving field.

About Rita Ingabire

Rita Ingabire holds a master’s degree in information systems and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. She launched her career at MTN Uganda, a wireless network operator, where she progressed from Junior Engineer to senior operational roles. During her tenure, she led the implementation of local and roaming services, integrating technologies from Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE, and Comviva.

After gaining extensive expertise in wireless operations, Rita is now pursuing her PhD at IMDEA Networks, focusing on Opportunistic Architectures with an emphasis on intelligent Cloud Edge design.
