In-house Presentation

A cell-free system is composed of many distributed APs which simultaneously serve a smaller number of clients. It eliminates network division into cells, allowing for users to be served by multiple APs at the same time. The cell-free concept has been proposed as the next evolution of massive MIMO systems, as well as for enabling dense mmWave networks. The goal is to increase network resilience, improve spectral efficiency and provide uniformly good service to all users.

In this talk, I will introduce cell-free networks, with a particular focus on how the concept can be exploited to improve mmWave network resilience in dense, high-interference scenarios. I will also present the results from a performance analysis of cell-free mmWave networks that both compares the performance with standard cellular networks and identifies the main performance limitations for cell-free mmWave networks.
